Great Book! It covers the basics of command line interface, then builds on that by having the customer write commands and programs. I have learned more from this book than any other programming book I have read so far. I would definitely recommend it for anyone wanting to learn command line programming or anyone wanting to improve in command line programming. It is not just for beginners.

Well organized pocket book, once I had the jest of some of the first command syntax's it was all like riding a bike and learning how to wheelie. It is amazing what bash can really do when it is torqued hard by wizards such as Jason, Great syntax of the written pages and easy to follow examples that are easy to put into immediate use in administration and support / logs reviews situations.

I haven't finished it yet, but I am not even a quarter of the way through and it has already vastly improved my skills.

This book effing rocks! It's full of useful little tips for *nix, and Linux based systems in particular. It's great for novices.

this is a nice clearly written book and I like to read it all the way to the end if I have enough time. Every command is explained simply and clearly.

I recommend anything by Jason Cannon, whether it's a book or an online course. I found the book so helpful I bought the print copy as well as the Kindle version so I'll always have it with me when I need it.

Perhaps this was written more with Unix as a reference instead of Gnu/Linux. I'll admit I didn't read any foreword or preface that may have been in the book...I dove right into the meat of the book. The vast majority of the shortcuts work very well, and I was excited to learn them. Some things that use regular expressions don't work quite right, but I've noticed that to be the case even relative to the grep manual provided by my operating system. I keep my Kindle handy at the computer so I can reference the book when I forget something or need possibly another shortcut. This book didn't make my day, it made my whole week!

The summary says it all. Fine as far as it goes. Should have a more logical approach. A good reference for someone who already has considerable knowledge.

I became a little weepy as I read because it was so tender.I am also more interested in the holistic healing properties of organic herbal teas for chronic illness. I have found a new interest. Leah's story was very convincing in how well they can work.This is the second book in the Love and Promises series but each book can be read as a stand-alone. It is a beautiful Christian romance with no obscene sexual overtones or scenes, no foul language and not overly religious (meaning scripture verses on every page). I would feel comfortable giving this to a teen girl or my ninety-year-old grandmother to read.I received a copy of this book from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) through NetGalley. From princes, via mountain men, daddies and doctors to stepbrothers...this prolific author is expert at creating sassy, innocent young women and hot, dirty talking alpha men.....sweet Everly and Channing her step ‘sibling’ are no exception....This short story is an angst free zone with a small helping of taboo; the main characters seem destined to be together and their smoking chemistry confirms it ..but of course there is always someone or something lurking in the background to try to rain on the MCs parade....I have really loved following these quick and fun stories but for the first time I really felt that I would like to have known more about the characters.. I would have appreciated more build to the relationship and character development...there is plenty of action and pace but I would have preferred a bit more time for the romance and plot to evolve and thereby prolong my enjoyment...This was a sweet, sexy and downright dirty afternoon delight... I received an advanced copy of this novella from the author

I voluntarily received and gladly review an Advanced Reader Copy of Dear Stepbrother. Hot Damn and cold showers. Every time I think she can't go more over the top, more riske, here's another one that pushes all of societal expectations of normal. Thank the good heaven's for a writer who knows her voice, and realizes that there are people, like me, who would read them, and be greatful knowing we're not alone in our over the top taboo thoughts. A truly gifted writer. I am so glad I get the opportunity to read her books. I waited to post my review until after verification of purchase of this book.

It was my first time reading Madison Faye and since this is one of myfavorite taboo subjects to read about, I though it was the perfect opportunity.I would've liked maybe a little bit more anticipation, teasing and angst but hey,that's just me being me.Apparently I like torturing myself.Who knew?It still delivers in the "hot and kinky" department and I'll definitely be coming backfor more of Madison Faye.

I absolutely loved reading Dear Stepbrother,I want you by Madison Faye. I am an absolute Madison Faye fan and books like this are why. The story was hot and exciting. It had me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happened next. The characters were wonderfully written with off the charts chemistry between them. I just couldn't get enough. This is a definite must read that would be a shame to miss out on reading.

Stepbrother romances are my favorite and this one is no different. I loved Everly and Channing together. They had a sweet and hot romance that started after he read a letter she wrote him. I would have given it 5 stars but I felt like it could have been longer and a little more story. It also seemed a little rushed but it was a great taboo read with bonus stories.

Wow another awesome read from madison, I have loved all of her stories that I have read, and I believe that I have read just about all of them. The only down side to her stories is the length. I love how her stories have all of the characters points of views. Can't wait to see what is next.

This was a short and sexy read that will have you loving Everly & Channing. Everly has always wanted her stepbrother and is finally going too do something about it. Channing & Everly are hot, sexy and will have you wanting more. I always love Madison’s books and I am never disappointed.

Dear Stepbrother, I Want You was a very hot, hot read. It was entertaining, and just what I was looking for with an hour to spare on this busy Sunday.

For beginning C# programmers, this is an excellent book. The Amazon description explains the book really well, so I won't.But I will point out one thing: the book uses only console applications ... it does not cover WinForms, WPF, ASP.NET, etc. Personally, I think that is good for a beginners book - you learn C# itself, without being distracted by the various app models' details.And you don't just learn the basics of C#, but also delegates, events, generics, lambda expressions, asynchronous programming, and other similar more-advanced topics.Overall, I was undecided whether to rate it a 4 or a 5, but then I took the price into consideration. There is plenty bang for the buck, so I went with a 5.

After trying to teach myself C# for many years and giving up many times because other resources were painful to read and overly technical, I came across The C# Player's Guide by chance.This book was a turning point for me. A godsend. The author has a way of speaking to you in a casual, conversational way. The subject matter has now become simple and enjoyable to learn.This book will serve you well if you're even completely new to programming.

I have programming experience in C, C++, bash shell scripting, several assembly languages and others. This book is a good book for the beginner. Whitaker explains things in a sensible, clear, straightforward way. You cannot learn to program just by reading any more than you can learn to play a musical instrument just by reading sheet music. Type everything in yourself, don't just copy and paste code. Trust me, it makes a difference in the learning process.If you are an experienced programmer in another language, much of this book will be review, so you may want to go with a more authoritative volume. But I enjoyed having a well-written intro that covers the basics.I feel comfortable recommending this book, and I paid for it, I did not get the book for free.

I have a computer science & mathematics degree for a long time now and so learned C & C++ in college and used them at various work places. I have seen many combination teaching and reference programming manuals similar to this book and it is the style I prefer. Concise but covering all the introductory topics needed.Now I am developing as a hobby in my free time and while the Visual Studio UI and my own experience allows me to get where I need to be programming in C# what I wanted is a good C# teaching book that would help me develop the quickness coding in C# that I had already developed in C & C++. This book fits that bill.What makes this book even better is the size of the book, the size of the font, and the quality of the printing of this book; all that sets it a step up from most books printed nowadays.

I am a seasoned C++/COM, Delphi and Assembly developer with 20+ years experience. Before this book, I am already familiar with subjects such as Delegates, Events, Anonymous Methods, Closure, Asynchronous programming, Design Patterns and Algorithms&Data Structures etc.I had also some on-and-off experience reviewing some small C# code, mostly for inter-operating with other languages.I need a C# book that can get me up from the ground, and move quickly to its advanced subjects. To that end, this book has satisfactorily meet my needs. It is well written and fairly to the point without nonsense. A 400 pages book as it is, it just take me 6 hours to complete the reading. In the end, I have a comfortable feeling that my goal is well served.If you have a similar background like me and a similar goal, this book would suit you well. I would also recommend "C# 7.0 Pocket Reference", to be used together with this book.

I want to start out by saying that this is a fantastic book. If you want to learn C#, and you're just starting out, this is the book for you. There's plenty of explanation in plain English on everything a beginner should know. The author does a good job of first stating what you'll be learning in the upcoming chapter, and at the end of it gives you a sample problem that challenges your understanding of the concepts you just learned.I think, for the most part, a lot of the "Try it Out" problems are just the right amount of challenge...that is, until I hit chapter 20's big Tic Tac Toe "mid-term". I felt pretty good about accomplishing all of the Try It Out problems until this one hit me like a brick wall. In my opinion, I think the after the chapters about creating classes and properties, there should be a little more emphasis on designing classes, or perhaps a smaller project involving class design that ramps up to Tic-Tac-Toe in a smoother way. I don't want to sound like I've been burned here, as this really is a great book! I just think that it can be a little frustrating for beginners who have never tackled design in this fashion to have a project this big without something like a walkthrough of a similar project. Now, the project does give you a solution, along with the author's way of thinking, but if you're reading that you've already feel like you've failed the assignment, especially if you couldn't think of where to start.That's where I've left off in the this book, and I'm excited to go through the rest despite feeling a little discouraged by not doing well on chapter 20. As I've stated, I love the way the author explains things. This is a definite buy for all beginners.

Thought I would never understand C# until I read this book. Extremely valuable and well-written. It opened up many doors for me and the light bulbs came on. Now I can move on the the heavy duty stuff and will always use this book as a reference for the basics. Thank you Mr Whitaker.
